I had both knees and elbows "done" yesterday.....................three sites ok, but the right elbow injection site is red, hot and bl... painful, whole arm aches, fingers tingly and hurting all down arm, also up to shoulder. I'm wondering if there's an infection starting up? I rang the out of hours service and they said if it wasn't better by MONDAY, to make appt to see GP. Even though I did explain my slightly unusual circumstances, they said there was no reason to worry, but I feel rather uneasy about it.

Have applied ice and yes, thank you, I DID rest yesterday after jabs, in fact I felt too rough not to!!

I'd be glad to know what you think. Love L xx

Dear Lylie,

So sorry to hear you're suffering and in pain. This does not sound right, please contact them again. I'm thinking you can't wait until Monday, and believe they've not taken your special circumstances into consideration and need reminding.

Take care,

Love,

Barbara

Hi Lylie,
Lovely to hear from yo but not in these circumstances.
I think Barbara is right, ring them again and I would think if you don't get anywhere go to casualty.
It certainly seems that something's not right with your elbow and you can't risk it getting worse.
Love and hugs, let us know what happens.

Have just spoken to Lylie and she is going to go to casualty. Her son, Simon, is going to take her.

Thanks for leting us know Jean.
I'm glad she's going to casualty, she should be taken seriously there.
Goodness, if Lylie doesn't merit treatment from the out of hours service, then who does?

Thanks Simon - you really are a star. Your Mum must be so proud to have such a wonderful son.

Bless her - she rang at about 10.15pm last night and said she felt a right fool in her hospital bed fully dressed! Thankfully, they were very kind and looking after her very well. She did wonder if they would send her out in the middle of the night (depending on the bed situation) but she didn't answer the phone earlier so I'm assuming she's still holed up there. It's just so not fair, is it?

It's probably best that they keep her in until they are SURE the antibiotics have started to work. If she's got to keep the arm elevated, I'm not sure how she will manage at home on her own.

oh my!

What a nightmare

I do hope they look after her well and sort out the arm- rule with the NHS- DO NOT GET ILL AT HOLIDAY TIMES

These out of hours services are a joke.

Lylie- much love and gentle hugs
